Rainy Day

Rain Rain Go Away
Come Again another day
Little girl wants to play
Rain Rain Go away

This year has been a exceptionally rainy year. After ages I am seeing green every where- creeper's on every roof top and poles available, green and shining trees, algae in every exposed nook and corner. Woa its the raining season ! What I am missing though at this time is a rainy day ! I recall those good old days when I used to get up in the morning to go to school and it would be raining cats and dogs. Then my mom would declare- "aaj school band hai since its raining so much" and I would go back to sleep - happy and excited.

Today is a rainy day! kids in the colony would make paper boats and float them. There would be hundreds and thousands of earthworms crawlling around in the garden. This year however, I am yet to see any earthworms in my garden. Makes me wonder have they gone extinct or what.Need to investigate and find out the reason behind there disapperance. I want those crawlly, creepy things back in my garden !

Meanwhile I am waiting for a rainy day at work with baited breath. one day I will wake up and mom will say ' aaj office band hai since its raining so much". what a dream ..Sigh !

Kashmir is burning again !

2 decades of uncomfortable peace and Kashmir is burning again. Once again the people in the valley are crying pro pakistann slogans. Makes me wonder if the heart and soul of kashmiri muslims, even after 62 years of independence, is still with pakistan then why is India still holding onto them. Isnt it the story of the child who wants to go out and play and the mother knows that it is not good for the child but still lets the child play- after all someone up there ( God) knows the best. So why cant we let Kashmir and Kashmiri muslims go. What benifit does India derive out of these people- some land and so called strategic position and what do we loose- Millions and billions of grants that is being shelled out of the pocket of the Indian taxpayer, millions of soldiers who loose there life at the borders trying to protect us from enemies who are living within our own territories screaming slogans like - jeevey jeeyvey pakistan ! In return of all this we dont even get the constitutional right to call Kashmir our own ( The Indian constitution is applicable to whole of India other than the state of Kashmir)

Isnt it time that a referrendum was taken- not just from the people of kashmir whether they want to be a part of India but also from the Indians too whether they want kashmir to continue being a part of India. After all it is the millions Indian mothers who loose there sons at the borders and the hardworking Indian whose money is being used to pay for those grants for the upliftment for Kashmir.

Yesterday evening I had a long long chat with a cousin based in US. The reason for the chat was simple. This cousin had recommended an Indian guy based out in US for matrimonial purpose. I spoke/chatted with this guy but since he wanted to be permanently based out of US and I didn't , I couldn't see a future for myself with this guy.

My cousin felt that I carried a regressive opinion and an NRI and subsequently a green card holder is what i should aspire to be in my life.

This long and almost heated discussion makes me wonder :

Why is the TAG of being an NRI, is so hot and happening. Why is it that being called a GLOBAL CITIZEN feels more respectable to some than being known as an Indian. Why do some people want to hide there identity as Indians and want themselves to be known as US or Canadian citizens.

When shall we Indians start taking pride in being known as INDIAN CITIZEN, When shall we stop saying " Singapore/ Hongkong /London" Rocks and Delhi is so " Punju", When shall we start feeling pride in our education system, When shall we feel the pride that some of the worlds most sought after professionals happen to be Indians who took there basic education in India.

When will Indians grow up ? When shall we become indifferent to such cheap tactics to undermine our own worth.

It seems so ironic to have this discussion just 4 days before Indians 61st Independence day. It seems Indians are still mentally in shackles where everything that is white/gora is good and everything that is dark/Indian is bad.

what to do, what not to do
I am really so confused,
I am really so confused
what to do, what not to do

So life is at a cross road again. 2 paths and I dont have a clue which one is the right one. Path one seems right from one perspective and path 2 from second perspective. Both the paths are right depending upon what i want from life. But do I know what I want from life ? I have asked myself this question a number of times in the last few years and every time my answer is PEACE & HAPPINESS. No.. I am not some Ms Universe contestant answering some fake question with equally fake answer- I am myself and am actually looking for PEACE and HAPPINESS for myself.

Can someone in this Universe help me. Give me all the right answers and above all give me the confidence that all the answers that s/he he is giving me is right.

This writeup is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to anyone living or dead is purely co-incidental and unintentional.

ahhh so we did finally meet ! And was it as interesting? It was..

We had always shared some interesting conversation on chat and sms. So it wasn't suprising that i was looking forward to meet him.

I was travelling by the shatabdi from Lucknow to Delhi . Shatabdi reaches Delhi by midnight and if one gets lucky it reaches on time at 10:00 PM. And I got lucky that day :)

We met at the station ! Interesting? Its going to get better .. A drive in his car for a few minutes towards my company guest house, I get invited to a party (Of course by him) . A POOL PARTY in a FARMHOUSE at a FEW HOURS drive from Delhi.

Ouch !!! Run Ruchi Run. So i ran ( am still panting from the race)

Which girl meets a guy for the first time at around midnight at an UNKNOWN POOL PARTY in a FARMHOUSE at a FEW HOURS drive from delhi. Surely not me !

So what next. We have some ice cream and then I am dumped unceremoniously on the doorsteps of the guest house. Sigh !

Too much excitement for nothing. Ahh What a Sham ! :))
