Kashmir is burning again !

2 decades of uncomfortable peace and Kashmir is burning again. Once again the people in the valley are crying pro pakistann slogans. Makes me wonder if the heart and soul of kashmiri muslims, even after 62 years of independence, is still with pakistan then why is India still holding onto them. Isnt it the story of the child who wants to go out and play and the mother knows that it is not good for the child but still lets the child play- after all someone up there ( God) knows the best. So why cant we let Kashmir and Kashmiri muslims go. What benifit does India derive out of these people- some land and so called strategic position and what do we loose- Millions and billions of grants that is being shelled out of the pocket of the Indian taxpayer, millions of soldiers who loose there life at the borders trying to protect us from enemies who are living within our own territories screaming slogans like - jeevey jeeyvey pakistan ! In return of all this we dont even get the constitutional right to call Kashmir our own ( The Indian constitution is applicable to whole of India other than the state of Kashmir)

Isnt it time that a referrendum was taken- not just from the people of kashmir whether they want to be a part of India but also from the Indians too whether they want kashmir to continue being a part of India. After all it is the millions Indian mothers who loose there sons at the borders and the hardworking Indian whose money is being used to pay for those grants for the upliftment for Kashmir.

Let me first tell you I totally enjoyed reading your post.I found you via twitter and am @arjunghosh there.Well, I totally agree with what you just mentioned in your post. Why are we holding a piece of land? Why are we forcing some people to assimilate? Am not against Kashmiries per-se. In fact I think they have every right to decide where, how and where they want to stay. Same when we decide we dont want to go with British. And it will serve the greater good too - save a lot of mother's & wife's tears from falling. Save our countries millions too which can be used for development. For greater good, let them go!!!

I don't think any common man in kashmir wants to join in Pakistan(it is in a big mess) or became a independent country(cant survive between 3 powerful countries)
And do u think its wise on India to loose kashmir..2mrow..some other state want to separate...the soln lies in transferring power frm Delhi to galli's.let the union take decision on things like foreign policy, army..etc n give powers to local govt to decide there fate

Praneeth: As an Indian I agree with you. I want to hold onto KAshmir forever . And that is why I confidently ask for a referndum to be done. Lets really find out-If ppl are unhappy then let them go.Are you aware that India as a country spends more on upliftment of Kashmir than on states like Bihar? Do we want to support our enemies in our own homes? Lets do a referundum and find out !
